Organize

I like lists and things in their place. I love binders and have many of them for organizing different areas of my life. Our trip easily fit into my binder way of thinking, not to mention my affinity for lists and things in their place.

Here is our trip binder. I had thought it would be neat to put a map with a line of where we will visit on the front cover. But I could never make it look like I wanted so I settled for the maps of Germany we'll take along.

Each tab is labeled with the name of the city we plan to visit. Behind each tab I placed notebook paper for our lists of things to see and do in that city as well as a printed copy of the reservations for places to stay or tours we plan on taking. A master copy of our calendar is in the front of the binder along with the dates and times of our air travel.

Yes all of this could be kept on the computer as well. But I really like having the binder. It is a great place to keep all of our information in one place. We know where to write things down, know where to go for a telephone number or reservation, and know what we have already thought about or what still needs to be decided.

This binder along with our travel guides have been a valuable tool for us in planning our trip.

  1. Suggestion; When we went on our trip, I did just this. Everything was in a binder. BUT, just in case the binder fell through a crack in the Earth, I also had all the information on a flash drive. I had a fear of losing the binder on a train somewhere, and not having the confirmation for our next stay. The flash drive went into a pocket on Mary's suitcase, and, of course, we never needed it! But it was another layer of "Whew."

  3. Yes Melody, we are putting things into an app called "dropbox." That way we have an electronic copy as well. Now we're trying to figure out how many of the travel books we need/want to take with us.

Thanks Laura! I don't know why you didn't know but now that you know, you'll know where to find the pictures we'll post as we travel about!
